N'gombe Compound
Ngombe Compound is an extremely poor part of Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. At the moment, we support the project Bwanji Kids and the school Hope and Faith by paying school fees for three children, although we hope this will be increased in the near future. Bwanji Kids is an orphanage in the compound that is run by a priest. In the past we have been able to help Bwanji Kids by buying mattresses, paying for medical costs and repairing a water filter system.
Children playing during break time at Hope and Faith School
Nearly all of the 30 children from Bwanji Kids attend Hope and Faith School. The head teacher of Hope and Faith School tries her best to allow the children from the orphanage to attend without paying school fees. However, it is difficult for such a small school to allow this for so many children, especially as the school also provides one meal a day. By paying school fees through your Raise a Smile donations it can be guaranteed that the school can go on offering lunch for the children as well as providing an acceptable teaching standard.
