We are delighted to announce that on Thursday (13th October 2016) Raise a Smile chairwoman, Esther Ridder, was honoured for her work with Raise a Smile by Germany's biggest women's magazine, Bild der Frau. Every year the magazine recognises 5 women for their outstanding commitment to charitable work and grants them the prestigious Goldene Bild der Frau award. Esther received the award in front of 600 invited guests at a ceremony at the Stage Theater an der Elbe in Hamburg.

In addition to the award Raise a Smile will receive a €10,000 donation which will go towards paying school fees for our sponsored pupils. In rural areas of Zambia over 90 % of all children drop out of school after primary school due to the prohibitively high costs of secondary schools. This donation will give more pupils the opportunity to complete their education.
